HP Pavilion N207TU

Currently it has 4GB RAM and I would like to upgrade it to 8GB.

Will that be possible? Is there an empty slot where I could insert another 4GB RAM? Or do I need to replace the exising one with a 8GB RAM. Or is it not possible at all?

Your Service manual:

Manual

According to specs you have an i3 3rd gen processor.

Two SODIMM customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots DDR3L-1600-MHz dual channel support

Supports up to 12 GB max system memory

We know it wil actually take 16 gigs but you are only asking about 8. There is an empty slot where you can add a 4 gig module.

4 GB memory module (PC3, 12800, 1600-MHz) 691740-001

Thank you for your reply, it is really helpful. Although I didn't understand the max memory part. Does that mean that I can't have more than 12 GBs of RAM? I still can add additional 4 or 8 GBs, right?

Yes the manual SAYS you can only have 12 or 8 + 4. We know in fact you can have 16 or 8 + 8.

For your purposes, and to specifically answer YOUR question, you can also have 4 + 4 = 8 total by just adding 1 more 4 gig module. There are two slots. Right now there is a 4 gig module in one slot and the other is empty so all you need to do is buy and install a second 4 gig module.

The problem is I am not sure what is in your laptop. It will take either the 1.5 volt or 1.35 volt but you should not mix them. Memory is pretty inexpensive right now and you may want to buy a pair of identical modules. The ones you linked should work fine.

hi,

i've just purchased this notebook "HP - 15-ac198nl", having i3-5005U processor, and additionally, Kingston 4gb SODIMM DDR3L.

But, this Ram seems does not work.

at the user manual link http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04653884

there is written:

Two non-customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots (Intel Core processors)
DDR3L-1600 dual channel support
One non-customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slot (Intel Pentium and Celeron processors)
DDR3L-1600 single channel support
DDR3-1333 Dual Channel Support (DDR3L-1600 downgraded to DDR3L-1333) (for Intel BayTrail-M)
Supports up to 8 GB of system RAM in the following
configurations:
8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)
6144-MB total system memory (4096×1) + (2048×1)
4096-MB total system memory (4096×1) or (2048×2)
2048-MB total system memory (2048×1)

What does it mean? i cannot install more ram? or is possibile but only with Hp ram?

Thank you in advance!
