Will my windows 8 64 bit "HP Envy m4 Intel core i7-3632QM LAPTOP" handle quad RAM? OR...
I Have a new laptop. I want to get it to it's ultimate performance. I will be computer gaming with it on "Old Republic".
I lucked out on the processor, an Intel IVY BRIDGE 2.20 GHZ processor. I found an app that performance tested it. I do not know how to screen capture the results, but I wrote down the following....Core speed approx.: 2895.71 Mhz/ multiplier: 29.0 x /bus speed 99.85 mhz / 4 cores, 8 threads/ DDR3 8192 Mbytes/ Dual channel/ Dram freq. 798.9mhz /Cas Latency 11.0 / #1 PC3- 12800 (800 mhz)/ #2 PC3- 12800 (800mhz)....Intel graphics 4000/ 32 mb dedicated graphics memory/ gaming graphics 1664 mb. I have found some 2x8 (16gb) DDR3 cas Lat. 9 12800 204 pin 1600 RAM replacement memory that I want to install...but then I saw that it was a quad core...can I go beyond just the 2x8gb RAM? OR will the upgrade I have found have to do? (I've already found a hybrid 750gb drive to replace the clunky 5400 rpm 1TB hard drive!!) Is this last step... (the DDR3 Cas. Lat. 9 12800 2x 8gb RAM) (Anything Faster?)
...the ONLY performance boost I can do- short of some fancy bios boosts or over clocking? Sorry this was soooo long, but I wanted to be thorough! TY for all of your help in advance!

M4 is a series of many models, from your descriptions, I think this is the one:
It has two slots of RAM can can support 16GB max:
Good luck for the upgrade.
