Hello everyone,
I am having a HP 250 G5 Notebook PC with a Intel i7 processor and a 256 Gb SDD where the OS (Windows 10 PRO) is located.
The laptop is having also a DVD-RW module.
Is it possible to add an extra HDD, maybe instead of the DVD-RW?
If yes, can you suggest a good HDD?
and maybe some instructions on how to do it?
Many thanks all,
George

Here is the Service Manual:
See page 66. On your model you can have EITHER a 2.5 inch (full laptop sized) SSD or hard drive OR an M.2 drive but not BOTH. Either type has a different adapter board and plugs into the same single SATA ribbon cable connection. Bottom line: only one hard drive in the port that is made for a hard drive. The only way to add a drive beyond that is with a DVD drive adapter kit. If you do that, it cannot be the Windows drive as it will not be bootable and the performance will be a bit less than if connected to the hard drive port. So it is a waste of money to put an SSD in there. I suggest this optical adapter (9.5 mm)

You can put any 2.5 inch wide and 9.5 or 7mm thick hard drive in there and I assume you want some storage so at least a 1 TB drive:
"How to" for optical drive installation is on page 49 of the Manual and it is very easy. Just substitute the adapter with hard drive in it for the DVD drive and boot up. You will need to initialize (format) the new blank drive to use it.
