I'm not able to burn a disc and am getting the following error message under the device properties:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
I've tried troubleshooting and it tells me to reinstall the device. But when I try that, it fails. Any suggetions?

Don't know if you ever got this sorted but I had a similar problem with this device recently.
After uninstalling and reinstalling the device and drivers countless times, I finally tried the Microsoft fixit program. It sorted the issue out in a few seconds. follow the link below to run the program, it might help.

try and see if you can boot off of a "bootable cd/dvd". just google bootable cd/dvd in google and you will find a bunch. After you burn the disk or find a disc thats bootable put it in your drive and set your bios to BOOT from DVD/CD drive, if it boots then you windows is screwed up, if it doesnt boot then its hardware and you 19 outta 20 times you probably need a new dvd/cd drive.
