I have a hp pavillion dv6-6b50sa laptop, the screen broke. I need to replace, a quick google, allowed me to find a replacement screen. However there is two types of screen for this laptop. I dont know which one is the correct one. my led is on the right hand side i think. Can you guys help?
The best thing to do is go ahead and remove the display panel. You are going to have to do it anyway. Look for a replacement of the screen model itself. There should be a part number on the back assigned by the screen maker. Do not search by laptop model. That way, you get more options for the replacement and usually a better price.
Post back if you need more help.
Here are the two options by HP part number:
15.6-in, HD, LED, BrightView display panel 665334-001
The FHD screen is 1900 x 1080 and the HD screen is 1366 x 768 resolution. The high-res screen is "matte" or antiglare and the low-res screen is very shiny in appearance. I doubt they are interchangeable; you have to replace with the correct screen.
Official specs say you have the 1366 x 768 version.
This is an eBay auction for the whole assembly

See above. I added to the post. Yes you need to buy the 1366 x 768. These have become commodity items, and if you pull the screen and search by the screen number you will find a replacement as low as maybe $60.
