I have an HP Pavilion dv6. It was first having start up problems. It would fail to start windows then launch system repair. It would restore to a previous working time. It would then work fine. On the third time this happened I noticed my Norton would not update. I reinstalled that and in the process of that somehow the restart problem got fixed. I however can no longer use my hp simplepass fingerprint reader to sign onto my computer. It does not read and the light that usually turns on no longer turns on. When i got into the Hp simplepass option in my computer there is no fingerprint reader option. Just these option to add a website to a ctrl and number. What happened to it and how can i fix it?

I went in and looked into my BIOS. and it looks like that is the problem.
It says this
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Validity Sensors (WBF) (PID=0018)
can i just reinstall the software to fix it then?
