I have an HP 17-p121wm laptop and I need to add memery to it. This laptop has the whole plastic bottom case no doors to open to get to things inside. After taking all the screws out I can not get the plastic to unsnap under the CD drive. I do not know what is holding it on but it will not budge.

Any help would be great.

I recently added ram to my HP 17-p121mw. It can be done but it is not easy. Also, you can add up to 16gb (2 8gb) or 12gb just add 8gb to the 4gb you have. Just put the 8gb in the number one card place. Windows 10 will recognize all 16gb. It is not easy to take apart. You will need 2 Spudger Tools they can be found here (https://www.amazon.com/Doer-Spudger-Professional-Opening-Samsung/dp/B074YHS3GW?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_13 ) and make sure they are the heavy duty kind. The bendable ones will work but not well as I found out the hard way. Some parts of the case are really hard to separate, like at the corners by the screen. There are no doors to open but take out the battery first. Lots of screws to take out, but the good news is they're all the same. Then the bad news. The ram cards are underneath the motherboard. Yep, you have to take it out. The worst part is lining up all the screw holes to put it back together. I got it all done in one afternoon. I hope this helps……..From someone that's been there.
