2GB RAM for HP Mini 110-3000CA

Hi Everyone,

I recently acquired an HP Mini 110-3000CA and I wanted to ask if anyone has this same model and was adventurous by  installing a 2GB stick of RAM and observing if it worked or not.

I know some netbooks say it only supports 1 GB but when you do put a 2GB stick in, the netbook recognizes it and functions well.

Also, does anyone know if there is negative effect to installing a 2GB stick if the netbook does recognize the 2GB stick?

Thanks to all for your help!

David.

Re: 2GB RAM for HP Mini 110-3000CA

Hi David,

On the link below are the specifications for your netbook which seem to suggest that 1GB is the maximum ammount of Ram it will accept.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02239702&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en...

I can't say what would happen if you install a 2GB memory module, but if 1GB is the max it will take you can probably assume there would be no benefit with a 2GB stick.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

DP-K

Re: 2GB RAM for HP Mini 110-3000CA

For future reference, I have not seen a computer "eat" a stick of RAM since the 128MB days (aside from badly broken computers anyways) Likewise, I've not seen a stick of ram break a computer (Again, unless it was a badly broken stick of RAM)  AS LONG AS the speed (800mhz)  power (1.XX volts) and type (DDR2) of the ram match the specs for the computer, the most that happesn is the laptop either fails to pass POST, or ignores the excess amounts. This is regarding SIZE matters, not speed or power increases, this CAN cause issue if you don't know what you're doing.

This should not be taken as absolute fact, but this is what many years of PC repair experience has taught me.
