Re: 6910p with MEBx error???

Hi:

I can only find reference for this error in HP desktop PC's.

That being a module is not present in memory slot 1

It has to do with the Intel Management Engine Interface.

Is there a possiblity that there is no memory under the keyboard in those PC's?

That would be the equivalent of slot 1 on a desktop.

It's easy enough to check.

You can also try setting the BIOS to the defaults.

Re: 6910p with MEBx error???

It says to move memory module to other slot!!!

When I move the module to the slot under the keyboard nothing happens???

No display, fan does turn???

When it is at the error screen it does have the f10 option but when I press f10 it does nothing???

Tried removing CMOS battery but no change???

Hi:

Sounds like the MOBO is bad.

I have a 6910p with 8 GB of PC2-6400 memory (2 x 4 GB in each slot).

I don't have any issues or errors.

Someone must have moved the memory from the slot under the keyboard when the memory controller for that slot failed.

Now you get the MEBx error because the slot under the keyboard isn't populated as it should be.

Re: 6910p with MEBx error???

That's it Paul.

Used a known good 6910p.

Removed the module under the keyboard and used only the one on the bottom and it does the same thing.

I did not know that it must have one under the keyboard.

Thanks for the help.

Tim

You're very welcome, Tim.

Sorry that you have some bad boards there.

Good experiment of yours, by the way.

I like the 6910p--especially with a 64 bit OS and 8 GB of memory. The HP specs state max ram is 4 GB, but I knew the Mobile Intel 965 chipset could handle 8 GB.

I don't think 4 GB PC2-6400 memory modules were available at the time the 6910p was introduced, and HP never updated the specs.
