Adding Internal Bluetooth and/or Dual Channel Wireless N to HP dv4-2164us

My computer is currently under warranty so I'm not wanting to open the machine until the computer comes out of warranty.  So before opening the machine these are my questions:

Quick questions for the gurus.

I am thinking of adding internal bluetooth and/or Dual Channel Wireless N to my HP dv4-2164us computer.

  1. Does my MB have the connections to add a separate internal bluetooth card?
  2. To clarify question 2...if the MB normally CAN do this, does HP typically have the connectors removed from the mb for these type of potential upgrades?
  3. Which bluetooth card do you recommend?
  4. I currently have 2.4GHz wireless n.  Would a different card support dual n AND bluetooth be a better solution?
  5. If yes to question 4 what considerations such as antenna or other modifcations should I be aware of before decision?
  6. Anything else you think should be considered :smileyhappy:

Thanks in advance !!!!!!

From your service manual: http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01963667/c01963667.pdf

1. Your laptop supports 1 Internal Bluetooth Module, you will need the cable as well.

2. See Response 1.

3. The only part number listed for the Bluetooth Module for your laptop is 537921-001 you also have a UMA architecture and will need the cable p/n 486847-001 (page 31 #17)

4. It may be the easier solution as gaining access to where the bluetooth resides would require removing the keyboard, keyboard bezel, LCD assembly, battery, hard drive, and top cover. (page 84)

5. I wouldn't worry about the antennas much, just be sure that there is 1 Main and 1 Aux on the new card.

6. ESD when handling circuitry

Re: Adding Internal Bluetooth and/or Dual Channel Wireless N to HP dv4-2164us

Thanks, Knute.  Swapping to a Broadcom dual band n card WITH Bluetooth would probably be the easiest and give me two upgrades in one.  My main concern was antenna for both the bluetooth and the different diameter cable for 5.0GHz that I read somewhere.

Okay.  Does anyone have a recommendation for an internal card to replace the one found in the dv4-2164us machine that supports DUAL band (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz) AND has onboard bluetooth?

FYI, The Bluetooth does not have an antenna.
