BLINKING MONITOR ON PAVILION DV5 1135ei

I have a HP pavilion DV5 1135ei. Many times when its not in AC supply, its starts to blink, showing black and white vertical and horizontal lines. When i plug in the power adapter, it suddenly stops. However, th problem seems to be worsening, it has started behaving in this manner even when on AC. Doesn't seem to have any overheating problem.

 

Any help? will appreciate.
