Using a Pavilion dV4-1000ea with Vista Home Premium all fully updated, my battery now will not charge. Constantly shows 3% charge even when left charging for a long period.
Using HP Update I updated the BIOS using the InSyte utility that downloaded via the HP update system. If I run HP Update now it says that everything is up to date. But looking in the system information it says that the BIOS is F.14, which isn't the most up to date according to the HP website.
The battery still does not charge.
Looking for help in the discussion groups and on HP support, there is a BIOS F.24, which is newer but I note that some owners of dV4s have experienced terrible problems after loading this update.
Does anyone have advice? Is there a solution? Or shoudl I return the machine to HP.
Thanks

Thanks for the advice- I'll try that first.
But I note that others have had battery charging problems with HP Laptops. HP suggest in their BIOS release F.24 that this solves an issue in which the battery monitor fails to record that state of charge in tne battery. However those that have installed F.24 have be left with useless machines displaying blank screens!
It's hard to know what to do!
