I've been hit by the disappearing wireless bug twice on my V6310US, but that's only mildly obnoxious compared to a computer that won't boot up at all, which is what happened today. The lights flash for a second and that's it. I've contacted HP but have had the computer for over two years, so I'm guessing I'm out of luck.
I am extremely disappointed with this product and its continual problems and will most likely be avoiding HP/Compaq in the future.

I have a v6000 that has this same problem and I have been living with it for over a year......tried everything that I have seen listed here including updating the BIOS which changes fan speeds.
There was a perid of time (about 2 months) when it appeared to fix itself and then back to its normal....maybe have been after an MS update but not sure.
What I have found is that if I remove the battery and all USB devices the computer will boot taking somewhere between an hour and overnight.
I don't have the money for a new machine and have never had any luck getting a phatom problem fixed on a computer....so haven't tried.

Ive had nothing but problems with my presario v6719NR.
I experience the same wierd black screen issue and reboots. Sometimes it will POST then reboot. Sometimes it will boot into windows.
Have only used the laptop for Botting World Of Warcraft. Since then the CD ROM is missing under my computer. The computer cannot detect a audio device and it really just seams to be one thing after another.
After going through chat and calling support & getting no where i have decided to POST my thoughts on my purchase.
Ive tried to get some help from HP but they want my credit card info to get a service repair and it cost $400 bucks! I purchased the laptop for $500 a year and a half ago. So if i did the server repair this thing will end up costing more then $900. My advise is not to get this laptop and spend alittle extra money on something thats going to last.
Im very dissapointed and HP doest seam to give a **bleep**.
So to save you guys some time if you think your out of warranty sounds like the best solution so far would be to get a new laptop.

Joseph Q : My Laptop keeps rebooting-did a HP recovery to default. Audio doesnt work. The battery doesnt hold a charge. ive reinstalled drivers from recovery council. It almost like it cant boot do to power sometimes even though its pluged in.

Joseph Q : yes it lights up but its almost like its not getting enough power....you can hear a fan work hard then a reboot

Maria : Let us peform few troubleshooting steps.

Maria : Then while turning on the laptop keep taping F10 key.
Joseph Q : ok im in the bios
Maria : Select the tools/diagnostics tab with the help of left and right arrow key.
Maria : Find two options
i. Short test / primary short drive self test
ii• Long test
Joseph Q : i have a hard drive test or memory test
Maria : Okay, please select harddrive test and hit enter.
Joseph Q : run the test?
Maria : yes
Maria : Let me know once the short/quick test is complete.
Joseph Q : notice the hd light not lighting up. its staying at 0% but the arrows next to it are moving..ok
Maria : Joseph, is the harddisk light blinking?

Im to the point were i would like to send it in and they can keep the laptop. VERY DISSAPOINTED CUSTOMER
This morning it booted into windows after a few reboots and is running well until next reboot sucks

I have the same Issue with a V6000.
Unit is not covered under the repair program as I am in Australia and the model number is not on the list.
Old HP tech, you mentioned that you could tell us how to fix the issue.
Serial No. is CNF6400ZDT
I am a tech, can you please advise..

This is an update from my June message.
I left my laptop on for a couple of weeks by accident...................rebooted it has been working fine ever since.
I do think the trigger for this behavious is updating from MS.
That said.....the next time it starts acting up...I am just going to leave it on for a couple of weeks and see if it fixes itself again.
PS My updates from MS are downloaded but not installed without my intervention.

Im also a tech and ive had 2 of my system adminsrators look at the laptop belive its a HOW layer problem nothing you can fix. Here is my most recent post
