CPU upgrade. BIOS and motherboard compatibility.

I want to upgrade my CPU. It is currently an AMD Athlon Neo Processor MV-40. It is only 1.6 Ghz. My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv2 Entertainment PC. My motherboard specs are below.

Model: Flextronics 3055
FSB: AMD Hammer, 200 Mhz

The question I have is: What other CPUs are compatible with my motherboard and bios.

I have already tried to look up my motherboard via Flextronics website, but it does not seem to be listed there. In addition to that, the bios needs to be able to accept the CPU. My bios type is phoenix and its system date is 6/22/09.  Thank you all in advance for any help

Re: CPU upgrade. BIOS and motherboard compatibility.

your goin to be pretty limited here looks like the best that might work will be the athlon neo x2 listed here

http://products.amd.com/en-us/notebookcpuresult.aspx?f1=&f2=&f3=&f4=&f5=ASB1&f6=G2&f7=65nm+SOI&f8=&f...=

its not very clear if it will work  it is the asb1 socket  both cpus use but unclear if bios supports it

i dont think your system could run anything else it looks good for the AMD Athlon™ Neo X2 Dual-Core processor L325 would out perform your current cpu and looks like it should drop in, not 100% though

gonna look some more need to know the chipset type for better answer

Re: CPU upgrade. BIOS and motherboard compatibility.

the chipset is the AMD 690G/V it should run the AMD Athlon™ Neo X2 Dual-Core processor L325

you should be able to upgrade to that with out issue but upgrading laptop cpus is very hit or miss

i like to use mine as an example it came with celeron m520 1.6 ghz sinlge core running on the i943 chipset wich only officially supports single core celerons and core solos but i have upgraded to core duo t2400 1.83 ghz and there are others with similar setup same chipset running core 2 duos

this seems to be a little trickier with amds my money is on the AMD Athlon™ Neo X2 Dual-Core processor L325 still not 100% but closer than before

Re: CPU upgrade. BIOS and motherboard compatibility.

Thanks for the help. After looking at the description for the AMD Athlon™ Neo X2 Dual-Core processor, it seems as if that might be a winner. The only problem is that I cannot seem to find it to purchase it. I would love to give it a try, if only I could find it. Once again, you guys are awesome. Any more info you need from me, just let me know.
