CPU upgrade dv6330ea possible?

Hello,

I have the hp Pavilion dv6330ea laptop with the standard Intel Core Duo T2350 processor. Does anyone know whether I can upgrade this?

I understand the socket type is Micro-FCPGA, does this mean I can install any CPU with this socket type?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Theoretically yes, but because its a laptop its generally HELLISHLY difficult, as you practically have to take the thing to bits, and also the cooling systems are generally designed to work only with something with about the same heat dissipitation as the standard processor, and because its not a desktop you can't just cure it by sticking a big heatsink on it. Its also better than my desktop processor :-(. Try first upgrading the RAM, if its not already at its maximum, that's generally quite useful and a lot easier than major stuff, you should upgrade it probably definitely if the hard drive light's flashing continually when its working, as that means its swapping memory in and out of pagefile, which is slow. Also try windows logo+r, type msconfig, I presume your trying to make it run faster, this won't really work if you're trying to get it to play games but it might help a slow startup if you go into the startup tab and untick everything like autoupdaters you think you can live without. Also sometimes with laptops you get about 50 wireless utilities, you probably only want 1 or maybe 2. Defrag your hard drive, that sort of thing, maybe even consider upgrading that first. A CPU upgrade on a laptop should really be a last resort. What OS have you got BTW?

hey, thanks for taking the time to reply. the ram is 2gb max for what the motherboard can handle, and yeah the hard drive light always on!!!

i agree, changing the cpu is a mission! i currently have vista ultimate.

i've just bought another wireless network card as the current one is faulty but it's not compatible :-(. it currently has intel 3945abg but i want one with 802.11n. the one i bought that's not compatible is broadcom BCM4322.

do you know of any 802.11n wireless chips that are compatible? thanks again
