CQ60 Presario wont turn on

My Presario CQ60 was running well as it could with VISTA.

then the dreaded blue screen.

tried the F12 reset but nothing happened.

now when I turn it on all I get is the lights, the whirr of that usually happens at start up but only black screen

no CPU flickering light.

tried loading my HP supplied recovery disks.

still no boot.

tried external monitor.

still no result.

any help or suggestions appreciated.
