Can FCP recognize Canon EOS 550D H.264 mov files?

I had recorded some interesting fragments with my Canon EOS 550D and wanted to edit the vides before share with my friends. After downloaded the H.264 mov videos from Canon 550D to Mac hard disk, and imported them to FCP for editing, But  the FCP can not recognize the files.I need some advices,Thanks.

The answer is still not really good but this may help. I don't use Canon cameras but the other.
