Clicking dv61211sa

4 week ago I got a dv6 1211sa. After about a week, it started making random clicking noises. Probably twice a day. It's not coming from the speakers as I have the sound turned off. It sounds like its coming from inside the laptop. And also, if I'm using the laptop and it clicks, you can feel the click. I cannot describe the click very weel. It sounds like, if you click on a link, that sound, except its not coming from the speaker, its coming from the actual machine.

Anyway, we got a laptop replacement, have been using for a day, clicked again twice today.

Is this normal?

It happens whether or not the charger is plugged in. And other than that, nothing else is plugged in.

Is ther anyway to stop it?

Re: Clicking dv61211sa

The clicking is probably comming from your hard drive being accessed. If it is excessive then it may mean your hard drive is going to fail. If so then call HP tech support and have it replaced under warranty.

Re: Clicking dv61211sa

Why would the hard drive fail within a day of having it, and also with the first laptop, it was clicking within a week... surely it can't be failing already.

This time, it clicked while I wasn't using the laptop. It was still on, I had it next to me open, but wasnt using it. And no programs open either.

Re: Clicking dv61211sa

It could have been damaged in shipping. Check your owners manual to see where your hard drive is located and see if that is where the noise is comming from.
