The problem is the blue ring around the AC adapter plug lights up when plugged in, but it blinks non-stop.
Following the online troubleshooting, I've:
1. Unplugged AC, removed battery, held power button down to drain system, then reseated the ram (twice).
2. With the battery still removed, and plugging in the AC, the blue ring lights up and blinks. Pressing the power button does nothing.
3. With the battery installed, and no AC, the blue lightning bolt icon blinks 4 times when the power button is pressed, but computer does not start.
4. With the battery installed and plugging in the AC, the blue ring and lightning bolt icon both blink non-stop. Pressing the power button makes the lightning bolt icon go out, and the blue ring stops blinking for about 3 seconds, then both lights return to their blinking state.
Sometimes, pressing the power button causes all lights to come on, the fan spin up, then it shuts down - sometimes briefly getting to the opening black/white screen, most time not at all....basically, it shuts down quick.
Any ideas?

COMPAQ presario V3822AU cannot power or won't start . So i sent the whole unit to it service center , they said motherboard problem , need to replace a new one for total cost of RM 1100 (included all labour charge twice) . next time, we should not buy HP product at all due to not reliable . i would happy to look on ACER which is good in price rather sent it for motherboard replacement and expensive extended warranty as they wouldn't offer 3 years extended care after your laptop spoil or expired care . More over , They charge RM 198 for 1 year care . i wonder presario product is low end or low quality which use after 13 months, hardware problem.
Change to ACER and get 3 extended warranty package for RM 198.
If i on this situation, i will buy new one and break my relationship with HP as Customer . This because it leave us first bad impression .

I am experiencing exactly the same problem with my a900. When I turn on the power, the fan spins for a few seconds and cuts off, the screen is totally black, the hard drive does not spin. In fact nothing really happens- the system is simply dead. I am desperate to know what's going on. Please help - this laptop is like new and I really need it for work.

I have the same problem thought it was the battery bought a new one still won't start up. I show power to the computer the green light stays green. Could it be the mother board? If so do you have to replace the mother board or a comp part.
