Hi,
I have a Compaq Pressario CQ60-418DX. It's a major heat maker (I still have a mark on my leg from the burn) and then it started acting goofy and throwing Blue Screens. After one such BS, when I got it to restart half of the programs were messed up and things weren't working right at all and errors that came up pointed to damage to hardware. I ordered the restore disks, as the ones I made are in storage far away from me.
I bought a new hard drive for it, but nothing much happens when I go to run the restore disks. It does the basic start up and I did go in and tell it to boot the CD/DVD drive before the HD, but all I can seem to get it to do is have the blinking cursor. I can get into the BIOS, but I don't know what else to do. I've been searching around for an answer and so far haven't been able to find anything yet.
Anyone know anything?
Jeni

If it got that hot it likely fried some of the hardware and you will not likely get it to work right ever again, heat is the worst thing for any electronics
