Computer crashes with a black, blue, or orange and grey striped screen.

Hi,

 

I have an HP TouchSmart tx2, and I've had it for 2 years.  I play a lot of games on it  (mostly the Sims.)  During game play, my computer will crash and black screen would appear and the hard drive light would go out.  Recently it will crash and a light blue screen appears or an orange and grey striped screen appears and the hard drive light still goes out.

 

I used to think it was my computer was overheating because it has a terrible cooling system, but I got a cooling mat with 2 fans to keep it cool.  So I know that's not the problem.  I also thought it was a display or graphic problem, but I have downloaded the most recent updates for both, and unistall and reinstalled my display adapter twice.  The problem still occurs.  I talked to the Sims tech support and followed their suggestions, and that didn't help.  I'm at my wits end, and I'm ready to pull my hair out!!!

 

Any help will be great!!! Thanks!!!
