Copying files from removed HP hard drive

Hi I was wondering if this would work to transfer my files from my HP Dv9408nr laptop, (2.5 Sata USB 2.0 IDE Aluminum Enclosure)? Are HP hard drives IDE? This is the link where I found it:
http://www.bargaincell.com/25-sata-usb-20-ide-aluminum-enclosure-black-p-515345.html?pstore=NL032712...
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Re: Copying files from removed HP hard drive

Hi

You have a couple of options as I see it.

I believe that you are try to take a back of you Old Hard drive this will help you to complete it. You have all connector in it like IDE , SATA for Hard drives & Optical drives.

http://www.cooldrives.com/seatatousb20.html

Please note the link you have is just a casing not the drive for Back up.

Let us know how it goes!

Re: Copying files from removed HP hard drive

Actually my laptop died and I removed the hard drive, can I transfer the files from my old disconnected hard drive to my other laptop using the above product? Thanks for the quick response.

Re: Copying files from removed HP hard drive

Hi thanks for your help, I had one more question, is the HP Pavilion DV 9408nr hard drive a Sata, or IDE? I tried calling HP but they said i had to pay just to get the answer, since my warranty is expired. The product you posted looks great, but in the first product link I posted, it encloses the hard drive so essentially I would have a portable hard drive, and it does not need a power source. I just need to know if it's Sata, or IDE. Thanks again.

Re: Copying files from removed HP hard drive

Yes I went to the link and saw that. But the one I posted is a enclosed drive for IDE hard drives, which would be great for me because I go to school and wouldn't need to worry about a exposed hard drive, plus it does not need a extra power source just plug into usb.

Re: Copying files from removed HP hard drive

Hi

I understand what you are speaking But the Notebook Hard drive should fit into the casing or else the casing will not be any use for you.
