DON"T BUY HP

Before you even remotely considering buying a HP product go through these chat boards and see how often people have had legitimate complaints and HP's response is ignore. obfuscate, delay, or suggest you buy something else from them (such as an extanded warrantly to cover their hardware design and construction failures).  Notice how often the problems listed are similar (for example, black screen with all the regular keyboard lights lit up).  If you see the same problem repeatedly then that indicates a design or engineering flaw.  If you see many people then do not get satisfaction for getting that common problem repaired, that inidcates a company who is willing to let you eat their mistakes.  Go to a different company!!!!

 

It happened to me, I told them I would do this, and contary to HP performance standards, I stand behind my word, so here it is.

Had same issue here with HP. Laptop less than 2 years old when 1st drive failed. Being my pro-active self, I replaced both. Mind you, Seagate warrants drive I had to replace for 5 years and with HP I have to purchase after 1. I bought that,  but second bay where issues where HP is less than forthcoming., appears to be an issue with their proprietary drivers and bios. Drive will not recognize when installing software or doing an incremental back-up. Drive does appear in windows as well as bios, tests well and passes bios tests as well as all windows tests, but fails when doing before mentioned. Re-Installing last good drive that was from 2nd bay back into its original postion the system works fine, go figure? Installing new drive and re-installing with their " Restore CD ", drive fails and drops from disk management, hence you will see my post about their emulation on the SATA. Given they are trying to drive revenue, HP has a long way to go to get our support. I bought another one of their products from a national name brand electronics stores and it had issues and was replaced. In the last 2 years 3 HP products were purchased, 2 FAILED. I do not have the time for them, nor waste any more monies. I have been sent a survey by Harris on their behalf with all my correspondence, you may guess where I am directing. Also note that I do build systems and have a high regard for Seagate although drives replaced with Western Digitals which I have never had a problem with. Problems arise with HP and their level of support. You can be ISO, but only to an extent. Think foreward, those green hands surrounding " HP Total Care " on the logo, is not your neck in there, but theirs. They are only supplying their the thumb pressure on their on throats.
