DV7 1260US keyboard not working

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have an HP dv7-1260us laptop I just love. it's been great. but the last few months the keyboard would stop working when I'm in windows. It shows it's installed properly everything but won't work. Neither will the touch pad. I've upgraded to windows 7 and still have the same problem

Recently I read where someone said to put the computer to sleep and wake it up and the keyboard will work. And it does. But the mouse pad still doesn't. Sometimes the keyboard will stop and I gotta put it to sleep and wake it up no problem. 

The keyboard works totally fine when I'm in the bios. But once I get into windows it stops until I put it to sleep and wake it up.Has anyone else had this issue? Is it possible to fix this?

Do you have the latest bios installed? If not give that a try.

yeah the bios is updated.

Unfortunately now my PC won't turn on or anything. I get blinking lights and a grey screen.

Try to remove the battery and power and hold in the start button for 10 seconds. Connect the battery and power and try again.

the laptop wonp't even boot up now. so I'm starting to think it is the Motherboard now. the lights on the laptop just blink every few seconds.

I did the holding the power button and it worked. But the keyboard and mouse pad are still not working. 

IT's so confusing. IT show's its installed right. but won't work in Windows. but will work in the bios.

Can you use an external keyboard/mouse and see if they work?

I would like to see if we can get into device manager and see if you have a yellow ! or red triangle next to the keyboard and mouse.

I can plug in a USB keyboard and mouse and they work.

When I go into device manager it doesn't have any errors at all.
