DVD drive is not connected or missing on Pavilion dv2000

I can read cds but I can't burn them anymore, the error says the device is not connected or is missing. it is limtype dvd a ds8a1h ata device. I have updates it, then i went through this:
run/regdit/...etc. there's no Lower /Upper filter on my list to delete!
I'm going nuts.
what should I do?
plz help...

I have Vista Home Premium,
nope it unfortunately didn't help....![]()
