The only thing that I found is this useless article. 
I was hoping for an access door that would allow you to manually eject the DVD, but there isn't one.
It finally gets to the point at the bottom of the page and says to contact HP for a service call.
I also checked the service manuals and it's very involved to physically to remove the drive to access the DVD, you would void the warrantee if you went that far.
The only thing left to do is to contact HP for a repair or replacement, the drive is defective.
Personally if this was nine I would be very annoyed after spending a fair amount of money only to have the Envy defective. I would exchange it for a new one.
It was probably put together on a Friday afternoon before the party or on a Monday morning after the party. Who knows what else is wrong with it, exchange it for a new one.
