Hi everybody, I have a question, I have a laptop dv6-7090ef with 1T of hard disk installed, I need to create another partition. what if I reduce the size of my C partition about 400GB and create another one on that unalocated space, just to backup my stuff like music or documents, would that space wil be affected while restoring the windows with HP recovery? and second thing when I reduce the space on C it gives me a warning that the Hard disk will be converted to Dynamic disk, what does that mean?

If you use recovery disks or HP Restore it will take away any partitions on the hard drive and replace them with the original scheme. As far as basic and dynamic disks here is an explanation:

I try to avoid dynamic disks because they are hard to work with and largely unnecessary when you just have one hard drive anyway. Simply using Windows disk management to shrink the partition should not turn it into a dynamic disk unless you are trying to make the 5th partition on the drive. You can only have four primary ordinary partitions. Can you post a screen shot of your disk management console?
