Your comment was the closest to a real answer I could get.  Where exactly is the registry key (lower buffer)that needs to modified?

Thanks!!

Re: Driver for Hp cddvdw TS l633n drive.

Hi,

I did it with success.

To make it easier to do it :

you have to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class

choose the class knowing that commonly for a cd it is the one beginning with 4D36E965

And there you find upperfilter value and lowerfiltervalue content that you can delete (no the key itself , just the content after double left click)

But... for me it was not sufficient.

I did see that in that class, there were multiple copies of sub-key named 0000, 0001,... up to 0009

I did succed after deleting all those sub-keyrs except the first 0000

Re: Driver for Hp cddvdw TS l633n drive.

The PC I have is a HP G62-149WM Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1

I've uninstalled the driver but it makes no difference. I put a DVD in the drive & the PC says there is no media in the drive..

Thanks in advance..

Re: Driver for Hp cddvdw TS l633n drive.

win7 confirmed solution here for this issue:

1.  go to windows icon

2.  type in "regedit" to modify the registry files

i. click 'yes' to run the program

3.  goto:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Control / Class / {4D36E965...

4.  deleted Upper Filter

5.  go to the Device Manager (Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Device Manager)

6.  locate the DVD ROM device

7.  Uninstall the driver

8.  Restart the computer

the computer should search for the drivers upon start-up (mine did), but if not go to the Device Manager and search for hardware changes.

These steps resolved the issue for me - thanks for the help everyone!
