Fan making really loud noises

[ Edited ]

Hi,

The fan on my laptop is making very loud noises, like something's stuck in it, but after I took the entire laptop apart, and cleaned the dusty fan, the noise level is still the same (+3 extra screws now...=( ). Is there anything else I can do, or do I need to replace the fan? If yes, can I get a replacement fan at any normal computer store? The model is Compaq Presario V3233AU.

Thanks!

Re: Fan making really loud noises

So I just talked to an HP online specialist, and it turns out that it might not be the fan at all, and might instead be the hard drive making the grinding noises. I cleaned the fan, and my laptop temp has gone down significantly, so I'm not sure that was the problem either. The specialist said that I could take the laptop apart, take out the hard drive, and run the laptop to see if the noises continue to confirm if the fan is making the noises. If not, the hard drive is probably replaceable =P

However, he ALSO told me that I could continue using my laptop, regardless of the noises, which was confusing, as I assumed that anything wrong with the hard drive probably had to be fixed immediately for me to avoid losing all my data? Help! What should I do?!

Re: Fan making really loud noises

open your bios and disabe "fan always on" option and that gonna make the fan run only when your pc needs it .. now when your lap starts there will be no fan running so if the sound goes away then its ur fan if it still then its your hdd .
