Re: Graphic card compatiblity

The video card/graphics card is usually soldered on the motherboard and it cannot be upgraded so easily . You need to replace entire motherboard to upgrade your graphics card on the notebook.

Re: Graphic card compatiblity

In case if your notebook has  a empty express card slot, you can try installing a external video card on the Notebook but as you have a customized Notebook I'm not quite if your notebook has one.

@sidu

In case your motherboard has failed, HP would replace with same one for free of cost else its not possible. Also the warranty does not know allow you to get upgrades on your Notebook (unless parts are out of stock).

Re: Graphic card compatiblity

Your laptop has Intel HD graphics which is not suitable for the purposes you describe. There are other motherboards made for similar HP models that you could install but it would be unofficial, and might even require minor case modifications. HP will not install anything in your laptop other than the original motherboard. You are better off selling your laptop and buying one with a "discrete" graphics card in it. Laptops or at least 99% of laptops have no upgrade path for the video system because the video is soldered to the motherboard. Even on the very few, very expensive laptops with a video card slot (MXM), there is no ready market for upgradable cards and when you can find one they cost hundreds of dollars.
