The cost depends on who is providing the service. It varies. It should be @ $75.00- $100.00.

 

As far as " will it cost too much" goes, the answer is simple.  If the repair of an expensive item costs less than 25% of the cost to replace it, then that is a very reasonable repair cost. It depends on your budget and whether the laptop is a luxury item or a required item for your education.  

 

The only other way to charge the battery would be in another noebook that uses the same battery. The repair is the only way to fix the issue.

Well I have a compaq presario cq 40-305la and bought a new power jack but still the same problem.
