HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GSA-H60L (windows XP) will not read DVD+R DL

Compaq GN578AAR#ABA CN27361BJH

dvd burner- HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GSA-H60L

 

I down graded to XP my dvd burner will not recognize dvd+r dl. On the site it only gives updates for Vista. Is this malfunction due to the downgrade and if so is there a fix.
