HP AC addapter question

I own a HP Compaq 6510b laptop and i was wondering if it's AC Addapter will work on a HP Pavilion zd7000.

No. The male pin that plugs into the AC jack on the laptop is completely different. The 6510b uses the newer style with the big barrel and the center pin and the zd7000 uses the older one with a skinny plug with a center hole. The power specs are similar however. Both use 18.5 volt adapters. I thought I had once seen an HP adapter cable that would allow you to use the older skinny plug type on the newer center pin laptops, or maybe vice versa. I looked on eBay and could not find one, however.

the 6510b uses a 19 volt adapter, and the zd7000 it supposedly use a 18.5 volt adapter. if i strip the wire and put a zd7000 jack on the 6510b adapter it would work or it would fry the laptop, because of the 0.5 volt difference?
