HP DV3-1075us screen flicker (which replacement part is needed)

Hello, I've had a terrible screen flicker with my DV3-1075 that caused me to look for a solution on BBR at this post:  http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r25189458-HP-DV3-1075us-Screen-flicker

the screen was basically fixed by opening up the laptop and reseating some wires. Now the same issue has come up and reseating the wires did not work as shown in this picture (I think something is truly broken):

IMG_0501.JPG

So I don't think the issue is with the screen...but with the wires instead.

Anyway which part would I need?
506155-001---screen with microphone/webcam

506156-001---just screen

506226-001---Display cable kit....

is it possible to purchase the whole screen assembly since...that would be much easier to install/replace?
And if possibly, where online i can find the prices/store.

Thanks for the help.

I'm certain the laptop is out of warranty :smileysad:

Re: HP DV3-1075us screen flicker (which replacement part is needed)

a friendly bump.

I'm assuming the issue is with the cables but I'd like a minium risk replacement. So i don't get the replacement part and then break something by accident trying to fix it.  That's why I'm wondering if one of those parts come with the entire screen assembled and you have to do is connect it to the mother board and replace the screws.

This is what I'm looking for....

is this part 506155-001?

(from: http://www.tssimx.com/frmSales.aspx?page=10&cat=PANEL)

Name-this-part!.jpg

in the parts store of HP...506155-001 costs $371  ouch...ouch...ouch  I could probably sell my whole laptop for parts at that price.

Re: HP DV3-1075us screen flicker (which replacement part is needed)

so just to clarify... part 506155-001 is definitely a complete assembly of the screen unit? (Just like that picture shows with the cables coming from the bottm)

On many websites it usually only shows just the display for that part #

Re: HP DV3-1075us screen flicker (which replacement part is needed)

I'm sorry, maybe I misunderstood your post. 506155-001 is just the screen, not the assembly, but the screen is not hard at all to install.  You won't have to mess with the antennas for the WiFi as those are glued to to the plastic back.  All you'll need to do is unscrew the screen, remove the brackets, remount them to the new screen, and then screw it back in.  However if you are still looking for the assembly number I can resume searching as well.

Re: HP DV3-1075us screen flicker (which replacement part is needed)

That's why I can't completely diagnose the problem.  Whether it's wires or the screen.  If I had the whole assembly I'd know I'm completely in the clear.

I do have the screen porition completely disassmbled in my room with the display out.

If I absolutely had to make a guess on what needed to be replaced:

I'd say the wires because of my history with this issue...

However the LCD "wires" part costs $70.....for about 6 inches of wire with a plastic/copper prong on both ends, is not so cool. I was hoping for under $50-$40 at least and the whole assembly for ~$170

If I buy a part from HP...is there a return policy?

(sigh)  I found the answer:  no

"We only accept returns for orders placed with the HP Home & Home Office Store by phone or online. We cannot accept returns or exchanges for HP Wireless Central, the HP Parts Store, the HP Small & Medium Business Store, repairs, or any other online store or retail outlet."
