HP DV6000 Motherboard known issue. HP will not warranty because 2 weeks out of warranty.

How can HP put  a warranty limit on a known issue on a motherboard. It would be like saying, that the computer you just bought is known to blow up, but we can't fix it till it blows up, but it has to blow up before 24 months for us to fix it for free. Sorry we sold you something that is known to go bad, hope it goes bad withing 24 months so we can correct it.

I can't justify it but warranties are finite. The 24 months was already a 12 month extension. In my opinion they should cover it but there is no law requiring that they do so.

I am having the same issue that 1,000's of customers are having, not so much the laptop but the treatment from HP! This HP pavilion Dv6000 was running fine up until some BIOS update, now my laptop sits there shutting off and on over and over. I can't check anything on my laptop to try to resolve it it's not booting up at all just flashing on and off, also my wireless is not working either. I have read blog and after blog and complaint after compliant and HP is doing nothing but telling us about the "EMAIL" sent to all the customers regarding the repair, but some customers didn't receive an Email because it was probably pushed to the junk mail and that was not their problem if this did happen. I bought my laptop in March of 2007 which makes it the right year all the faulty laptops were bought and sold and I had to send it for repair about 3 months after purchase! when I got it back two weeks later it was running fine up until about 8 months after that repair and my wireless gave out! My "extended" warranty that HP gave out which I had no idea about ran out in May 2009 and my laptop went down in June 2009 and for this HP is trying to charge me $279 + shipping for a new mother board or to just another HP (Huge Pile) for $500, now how does that make any sense when HP sold a faulty product and wants us to pay for it like we kicked the **bleep** thing around! I have written an Email to the CEO, Board of Directors and the Corporate Compliance and I will keep sending these emails and calling until someone does something for us purchasing customers! <text deleted> I am still paying on this laptop and I am not going to let it sit there because quaility assurance is not part of the H or the P. This annoucnement for the recall should have been made through the media not some random email that was going to get pushed to the Junk Mail! wake up HP!

I am having a very similar problem they replaced my motherboard a little over 3 months ago just before the computer went out of warranty.  I recived a 90 day extended warranty with no date on it saying when it would expire.  I noticed within  weeks that there were still problems as my programs were not performing as well as they used to and tried contacting hp again and they said it was a non issue.  Now my computer will not stay on for more than 5 minutes.  I called HP to have them fix the problem and they told me I should have called 2 weeks ago.   Now they want me to pay for on the phone text support and all repairs.  I will never buy an HP again.

I too have issues with my computer and I'm out of warranty.  So they say I have to pay $259.00 for a new motherboard even though this is a known problem.  what a crock !!!  Isn't there some kind of lemon law?  Does anyone know about what can be done to fix these computers.

Re: HP DV6000 Motherboard known issue. HP will not warranty because 2 weeks out of warranty.

Truth is this company has no need for customers, if you do the math for very DV6000 and DV9000 series sold with these known problems accounts for the loss in not only future income, but brand loyalty. Hewlett Packard will be out of business as gateway simply because they forgot who is boss! I spent for $2000 on my DV6000Z and was told the same thing you all have been told. Now if HP gets another dime from me it will be from my grand children after I am long gone. As of this posting I have gladly spent $4000 dollars with Apple (Mobile Phone, Time Capsule, Macbook Air, Macbook Pro Unibody, and Macbook Unibody, not including software) and I am sure this new found relationship is not soon to end. HP you are heading for the worst recession yet; remember the customer is always right, after all I am actually your missing pay check. I still have that DV6000Z (after all I spent $2000+ for it) as a constant reminder of how I got duped by a company I once respected.

Same happens to the 9000 (9500) series ... fried MB or Video Card Hardware Issue. Think about another manufacturer next time around - I certainly will!
