Never again dealing with HP!! 1st the hard drive is bad HP reboots the system and returns it only to have it crash again 1 month later!! Then I send it back only to have them do the same exact thing....the 3rd time I get it back and the laptop will not even turn on!!! The "tech" on the other line even asks me to "back it up" 3x after I tell her and she repeats to me "so the laptop doesn't turn on" ...lmao....some techs. They escalate my issue to a manager who tells me that they will replace the hard drive. I get it back with someone elses hard drive and their information!!! I finally speak with someone who's 1st language is English and they send me a brand new laptop. That one lasts about 6 months before it's motherboard goes. By then my warranty is up and I (stupidly!!) purchase an extended waranty for 6 months at $240....1/4 the price of the laptop!! Dopy me.....later to findout there was a recall and I never should have been charged in the 1st place!! The **bleep** thing just crapped out on me again and I finally learned my lesson....NO MORE HP ANYTHING!!

We are all in the same boat. I don't think HP cares about customer service like they used to.
Not sure if it is the outsourcing or just they don't care. Why should I spend 300$ or 400$ to repair a motherboard on my Laptop that they had a defect on with or without a warranty when I can buy a brand new one for that much or a bit more.
When I bought my laptop it cost me 729+ TAX and now it is in pieces and useless.
I had everything HP at home and even at work and now I am not recommened or promoting HP to anyone.
I would rather buy no brand name laptop before I deal with this mess.
Besides it does not cost them nothing to fix these things as the parts are refurb and recycled.
only Labour which most time the techs are there and are getting paid either way.
This is my 3rd laptop that failed that was HP and I am not buying HP period from now on.
I hope they are reading this posts and get back to us.
I have my case number and I would love to speak to Customer service rep or a manager to go over my concerns.
I worked for HP in TECH support for Proliant servers for over 8 years and never had things go this bad with support.
Its like the first level techs are like robots. If we want robots what is the use of having tech support we could just do all this from the forums or through email.
Any how again. I wish someone from HP would contact me as a customer that spend a lot of $$$ with them and I will give them what I have. Right now I don't care about fixing my laptop because it is going in the grabage after 2 years of use.
Tech support would not even conect me to his manager or customer services they told me to hang up and call again. how stupid is that. Is this a good customer service for me to just get of the phone and to speak to another Agent and expalin my self all over again.
Something is wrong here HP and you better listen up.
To be continued.
Have a good 1st and 4th of July.
I still belive in North American products even if they are made overseas. but not in TECH support overseas.

Hmmm so I have a DV6000 that has lost its wireless…etc. Now it is a brick that won’t turn on. Naturally, my computer is beyond its factory warranty so I am on the hook to repair a problem that I now see HP has known about for quite some time. As a person who is putting himself through medical school, I can ill afford this failure.
I’d like to know why the hell someone from HP did not contact me to let me know that there was a BIOS update to run the **bleep** cooling fan and prevent my motherboard from frying?!? I’ve had two HP computers and four HP printers over the years—HP has my contact info. I get tons of sales info because of this, but no BIOS update notification!
Hopefully HP will come good at some point and repair their defective products. The least they could do is to offer an in store HP credit to affected customers, even if it was just a partial credit. I’m sure that many customers would decline that type of offer (not wanting another HP product), but it would certainly make sense for HP to extend an olive branch and perhaps lure back some of its disgruntled customers.
So today I am going out to start shopping for a new laptop and printer (my HP printer also died this week—but I’ve gotten a good bit of use out of it). I will not be looking at HP products and will not purchase another HP product unless HP comes good on these computers.
Is anyone thinking class action?

A limited warranty is just that...a limited warranty. After that, if you did not purchase an extended warranty you're just taking the risk of failure into your own pocket.
HP was not the only computer company to experience these failures related to engineering issues. The issues weren't known until some time after the products were in use by consumers. The BIOS update was released to help with this issue, but it was not a complete fix nor would it help if the damage had already been done.
HP offered a FREE 12 month extension of your warranty specifically for this issue - Most other manufacturers did not. This is not a proactive recall. This was a service enhancement and they weren't required to notify anyone before nor perform proactive repairs. Most people using HP Update received a notice about the program and were informed of the details. There were also bulletins posted on hp.com/support for your product. Most of the computers with the problem are no longer within the support period...There is no way that HP is going to offer to repair these units for free in the future.
If they offer you the $259 repair, take it - it's actually supposed to cost $398.
So I guess in summary, you should buy an extended warranty with your next computer purchase - whether it be HP, Acer, Asus, Gateway, Lenovo, Toshiba, Apple, Dell, Jim-Bob's PCs, or whatever.

Thanks for the post.
I would rather buy a new Laptop with 4GB of Ram and 500 GB HD with better hardware than fix my 2.5 year old laptop.
But I am still not buying HP.
If the laptop is going to last me 1 or 2 years I would rather dispose of them and not waste money and time on extendend warranty.
I became to realize that everything is disposable now a days and as nothing is build like it used to.
We are not saying they should warranty these things forever. However they are playing with words like enhancement what kind of enh is this if it is a defective product. Look what happend to Toyto because of its defects. The product is bad period and they should at least fix it once. If it breaks again then it is garbage. That is All I am asking is to fix it once and then It is over.
I am still not buying HP and will by gateway or emachine for 100$ less than HP and dispose if it 2 years down the road.
Have a good Day.

I have the same wifi problem with my dv6000 only I have two. Of course when I called support they did not live up to the total care logo. I have owned only HP since 2004 including printers but I just purchased a refurbished Dell and a new Toshiba. That is two laptop sales that HP missed because they will not back the product. I have vowed never to use an HP again because of the lack of customer service and I WILL TELL EVERYONE WHO BRINGS ME A COMPUTER FOR REPAIR TO NEVER BY HP AGAIN!!! Good product but terrible customer service and support.

I used the word screwed in my username and for some reason a childish brain thought of something dirty I guess. I used it with this in mind.
The modern sense of screwed originates in the mid-1600's with a sense of "to screw" as a means of "exerting pressure or coercion", probably in reference to instruments of torture.
My name has been changed because of someone with their mind in the gutter. I hope gutter is not a dirty word in someones twisted mind!

ITPro you got it right.
I wonder if HP ever reads these forum postings.
It is just too bad that fixing a laptop costs more than buy a better one.
These things are now disposable like Cell phones.
I get a new Cell phone once a year and now a new laptop once a year.
They should start up an HP recycling depot for all these laptops...
Have a good year and go and buy a new laptop with 4GB RAM and 500GB HD for less than 399$.
Regards,
TK
