HP Pavilion DV6000

no error messages and no prior changes to system
Hiya, I'm having some trouble with my DV6000, when I go to play a normal DVD using QuickPlay, the right hand side of the screen flashes in kind of back/blue/white boxes, while the main image is frozen. The sound however continues as if the DVD is playing normally.
If anyone could help that would be great!
