Good Morning to you all,
I've a HP DV9000 with one hard disk Western Digital of 320GB.
Actually the hard disk is housed in the slot marked as "1" near the GPU but, as very hot, I'd like to move it in the second (near the DVD) slot to prevent that the heat it generates can reach the gpu.
If I move the disk the system says that cannot find the operating system to start.
After a search on Western Digital's site, I've seen that this disk (WD3200BEVT) hasn't a jumper configuration to set is as master.
Sorry for the long post.
Best wishes,
Emilio

Hi,
Go in to your Bios and make sure that the sata controller for the HDD ( in the second bay) is enabled. Also, change the boot order so that it is the first bootable device after the CD/DVD drive.
Hope this helps,
DP-K

Hi,
thank you for your response.
I've updated the bios to the last version (T59) but there is no option to enable/disable the SATA controller.

Hi,
Did you try changing the boot order so that the second drive is the first bootable device?
Best wishes,

Here's the problem. SATA drives do not use master and slave so no jumpers are needed. Secondly, the second drive bay in the DV9000 is just a glorified external storage option. The computer is not capable of booting from a drive in that slot. It also has a size capacity limit of I believe 250 gigs. So you cannot find an option in the BIOS to set that drive as the boot drive. The bootable hard drive must be in the first slot.

Hello Huffer,
thank you for your response, so there no chance to boot from second slot. It's a sin :-(
Anyway, thank you so much.
Best wishes,
Emilio
