HP Envy 14 M-SATA connector seems to be dead

Hi guys, sorry for having to post this very specific and difficult question here but apparenty being out of warrenty and buying my laptop in a different country means HP can cut me off like a severed limb.

Basically I have a HP Envy 14-1160se, and have just purchased an M-SATA SSD to use as my boot drive while retaining the use of my 2.5" HDD occupying the full SATA connector. I'm aware of the issue with not being able to boot from this connector on the dm4, however this is not my issue.

My issue is that the connector is completely inactive. The MSATA SSD is fine, and I can successful access it by using an adapter board and placing it in the full size SATA connector. I'm wondering whether the connector is even wired to the board? Or if it has been disabled in the BIOS like so many other features.

ANY help you can provide me with would be seriously appriciated.
