Re: HP Mini 210-1102TU Wont Accept 2GB ddr3 no boot.

I've got an HP Mini 210-1180CA, which has the Atom N455.  The memory advisor on the Crucial site claims that the following two modules are compatible:

1) Part #: CT1389777 • DDR3 PC3-10600 • CL=9 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1333 • 1.5V • 256Meg x 64

and

2) Part #: CT1389778 • DDR3 PC3-8500 • CL=7 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1066 • 1.5V • 256Meg x 64

Even if I was to gamble on one of these, I wouldn't know which to try.

Oddly, if I search on the 210-1180SA, it gives different part numbers (but same basic specs).  I believe the 1180SA is the version available in Europe...but the processor is the same.

I just wish I could order the **bleep** part from HP and not be concerned if it will work or not!

Re: HP Mini 210-1102TU Wont Accept 2GB ddr3 no boot.

The replacement part I received from Crucial (CT1440459) works!  The replacement has 8 chips, even though it has the same part # as the 16 chip model I originally received.  It seems that Crucial has gotten the problem sorted out.  Best of luck everyone.

The difference between the two modules is the speed (1066Mhz and 1333Mhz). Use a program such as SIW to check the speed of the memory you currently have, and buy the same speed module if you want to add to the current one there; memory only works as fast as the slowest speed module installed.

If you're aiming to replace, then buy which one you want, but the 1333Mhz will be slightly faster.

[ Edited ]

I just received my Crucial Part Number :CT1440459, and guess what, it WORKS. Yeah. The module I have received has 8 chips which my uncle have bought directly from Crucial.

Seems like this compatibility issue with the Intel Atom N455/N475 is already sorted out. Thank God. :smileyvery-happy:

Re: HP Mini 210-1102TU Wont Accept 2GB ddr3 no boot.

Thanks to all of you, including uberswimmer, cyclops and others.   Crucial.com has indeed worked out the problem and only ram modules with 8 chips (same as the original OEM 1GB modules) will work and only those are now specified at Crucial's site.

I have a 210-2072CL that I purchased from Costco.   I tried various 2GB ram modules from Frys and Best Buy and none of them worked (apparently they were all 16 chips and the timing didn't fit the controller's tight requirements).   I read through all of the threads here at the forum, on other sites and even had some really frustrating discussions with HP's Customer Support folks (who were in India I'm guessing and just reading from scripts) who knew next to nothing.

Bottom line is that I spoke with a Crucial.com tech support  person to verify that the 2GB ram they were selling had been speifically tested with my model, and they assured me all of the 210 models are specificaly tested and they only recommend ram modules that are certified by them to work.   So I ordered a 2GB ram from them.   Got it today (even with the added overnight shipping by FedEx it was still cheaper than what I was paying retail from Frys, and way cheaper than Best Buy).  Got it in 1 day, installed in 3 minutes and it works like a charm.

Problem indeed solved.

Now if someone can only tell me if there is a fix for the missing "End" and "Home" keys.....Fn+Down Arrow/UpArrow are supposed to work, but don't on my model.    I've read a lot about this issue, and until HP issues a bios update to fix it, apparently there's no fix in sight.  I'll post another thread on that subject

Re: HP Mini 210-1102TU Wont Accept 2GB ddr3 no boot.

I can confirm this that the crucial ram DOES INDEED WORK!!!  :smileyvery-happy:   I have the mini 210-1142cl and I did also have several problems with upgrading the ram to 2 gb.  I tried all kinds of ram but when I search and found the crucial website:   http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx  these guys rock!  They list down to the exact model you have and yes you do need the type of ram with the 8 blocks and NOT the one with the 16 blocks on the stick.  So be sure to get the one with the 8 blocks on the chip.  I ordered it yesterday and got it today to my surprise it was on the kitchen table when I got home from work.  They got the right part, QUICK shipping, and good price.  Thumbs up to them!

Hey everyone,

I just installed a 2GB card from crucial on my HP Mini 210-1180CA and it worked!  The memory I purchase is:\\

 Part #: CT1389777 • DDR3 PC3-10600 • CL=9 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1333 • 1.5V • 256Meg x 64

Re: HP Mini 210-1102TU Wont Accept 2GB ddr3 no boot.

I have successfully installed a 2GB Kingston KTH-X36S/2G DDR3 SODIMM on a HP Mini 110-3538TU (Atom N550, Win7 Starter) and it works well. Apparently, the key to success is the use of a single rank SODIMM as I have seen examples of many other multi-rank modules that other users have complained about not working.
