HP Mini 210-3020sf PC reports 0% available plugged in not charging

Purchased this netbook 4th Jan 2012 and have only used it a few times and the battery was working fine giving at least 2 hours use. Not used for a couple of weeks and battery won't charge, power adapter is fine as PC runs fine when i tis plugged in with no battery fitted; Tried solution available on web to unistall Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery from device manager but this does not help.  Running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit with all latest Windows Updates. Help please
