The wireless won't work on my laptop so I had to buy a usb wireless adapter. Now it won't turn on because the fan is broken/overheating! How expensive is it to fix these problems now that my 1 year warranty has expired?

An out of warranty repair on a motherboard is usually around 398 plus taxes. Depends on how much needs to be fixed, though. You should contact HP's Tech Support and ask them. You will need your product number and serial number when you do so.

Check to see if you are under the Enhanced warranty, there is a faulty mother board floating around and some customers are having to pay for a SICK mother board! don't pay for the repair! check the website to see if you fall under the list that HP has posted DEEP in the site! if your product is on the list and the agent wants you to pay because it's out of warranty, then get yourself a CASE MANAGER, do it via online for the trail, they are going to make you pay for the repair or buy a new laptop. If they do ask for a case manager and despute your case, don't be mean! but if you do have this item then try to have to fix it! if you don't believe me check the internet, google your HP product and read the horror stories that 1,000's are going through and you'll find out that they are having the same issues you are, I too had the wireless problem and it's now my third time sending it to HP for repair, good luck!
"HP is now my least favorite CPU company" HP Pavilion Dv6000 are lemons
