HP Pavilion dv9000 dead?

I've searched the web and here on some of these posts. My laptop is only 2 years old and it started acting up just a bit ago, the screen went hay-wire so I shut it down. I rebooted it and now it won't boot, the Wi-Fi light is out but the other lights are lit. I pulled the battery and pressed the power button for one minute, reset the memory and pulled the CMOS battery to reset it, it still won't boot. Maybe it's gone? has anyone else had this problem? any other things I should try?

It would be a gross understatement to answer "yes". We would need the exact model number to give more specifics, but you are in plentiful company I assure you.

Re: HP Pavilion dv9000 dead?

Than you for responding Huffer, I appreciate it. I had a feeling I may not be alone with this issue. My exact model number is dv9408nr I guess it may be time to shop for another laptop but saddly enough, it won't be an HP.

Re: HP Pavilion dv9000 dead?

Need the actual part number but there is a recall on some models. If yours is an AMD there is a good chance you are covered. Here is the information:

Re: HP Pavilion dv9000 dead?

It is covered by the program. Yours is still in the dv9000 series and being a dv9400 it is late in that series so I hope you have had it less than 2 years. If so HP will fix it free. Follow the steps laid out in the document I linked above. Don't take no for an answer.

Re: HP Pavilion dv9000 dead?

Thanks again Huffer, I purchased the computer on 8/30/2007 so I should be okay. I have been trying endlessly to contact an HP tech via the chat session but it keeps failing, my guess it's at their end.
