I've a 2.6 yrs old HP DV72185dx laptop. It has two 500 GB HDD. The HDD1 is having really slow response times from last 1 week. I did a HDD test from BIOS menu. For HDD1 the Quick test stopped at 17% with an error code of 303. Then it went into full test and stopped at 4% with a error code of 305. SMART test was successfull. HDD2 passed OK in all the three tests. Pls advise if this needs a HDD replacement. If yes, what kind of HDD shall I need to buy. Also is there some program which can ghost HDD1 data to the new HDD (I do not want to missout on some of the software that is already installed.
Note - I've Win 7 Home Premium (64 bit). I guess my laptop warranty is over.

Hi
As you have mentioned the error code 303 says that the Hard drive is Failed on the unit you need to replace the Hard drive. Please replace the Hard drive off the same capacity & if possible the same company as it will be easy for you if you have enable Raid enabled please go through the web link given below.

My Laptop had originally came with Fujitsu 500GB HDD. Later I added a 500 GB Seagate HDD. This Seagate HDD is giving trouble. Can I replace it with the WD Scorpio Blue 1 TB SATA Hard Drives ( WD10JPVT) ? Will the laptop support it.
I read your links on setting it up with RAID. But the documentation says RAID is not recommended for home users.

The DV7 does not support RAID. Yes, that is a 9.5 mm thick 2.5 inch wide SATA drive and will work for you just fine.

Thanks Guys, I finally got a 500 GB Seagate (couldn't any other brand locally here :-( ) and finally cloned my bad HDD to new one using the Seagate-Acronis software from Segate site. Now it is running good.
