HP dv6000 screen is dark like a picture negative.

I am having problems with my dv6000 screen. The power stays on, the fan is clean, and the heatsink has new thermal compound. However, my screen is like a negative image and I am not sure if it is the backlight or the inverter. The P/N is RG381UA and the S/N is CNF643415J.  When I plug it to an external monitor, it is fine. Please help
