Computer giant Hewlett-Packard said Wednesday it plans to lay off 27,000 workers, or about 8 percent of its workforce, over the next two years as part of a massive cost-cutting plan.

Hi,
Not just HP, many companies are trying cut cost now and the first thing they do cut-heads. I will be leaving the work force very soon but my children are still there.
For your question: Many services are now chargeable therefore you, me - customers - have to perepare our pockets to get the services.

I agree, this is just a move but customer support will always stay the same. Some may be outsourced but the level of support is still the same. ![]()

The only effective support is from other HP users.Any hardware tweaks solved via youtube or IT forums.
So before buying or repairing your notebook, ask some HP owners about short review.

I am truly sorry to hear that you will be leaving.
I hope they will eliminate some of the paper pushers that make 6 figures or more.
Do away with a few of them and save the blue collar workers.

Hi,
Thanks - I went thru this kind of climate many times during my work for living. I wish I could leave the workforce sooner to travel around the world and spend time with my grand children.
