I have a HP Pavilion dm4-1265dx that running Windows 7.
I bought this notebook back in January 2011. I really like this notebook. The last several months it's been running slower than usual and I had the Geek Squad run test to see if I have viruses or hardware problem. It didn't (according to them). So I took it home and reformatted the whole OS to start fresh and the problem continues. It runs slow.
I installed a hard disk analyzer and here is what comes back:
When I click their link to get help here what it reads:

Should I replace my Hard Drive?

Hi,
It does look like you will need to replace the Hard Drive as it appears to show there are increasing areas of the drive that can't be written to or read from - considering Hard Drives are relatively inexpensive, I would definetely suggest replacing it as soon as possible.
If you would like a guide on replacing this yourself ( it's a very straight forward process ), please let me know.
In the meantime, make sure to back-up your personal files straight away.
Regards,
DP-K

Hi,
Your Hard Drive is certainly covered and you can contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced under warranty.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
All the best,
DP-K

I too was also told that my hard drive is in the process of failing and needs to be replaced. My Pavilion dv6 is only a few months old so it's under warranty too but my question is, what causes it to fail? I spent over $1,000 for a laptop that has only lasted a few months- and then had to spend the past month obtaining the Proof of Purchase for HP to show the warranty is current (which they now have done).
Do I send my laptop somewhere to have it fixed and how long does it take?

Please, support guys, answer us, what is the reason of HDD failing in pretty new laptops?
I've got the same problem now with Probook 6560b bought in May 2012.
