Hardware Upgrade

I have and HP DV2910us
With a Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family Video Card and want to get an Nvidia or AMD is this possible to be put in. And if so where can I have someone install it or can I install it myself.

Also which of the two is better. I just wanna be able to run GTA 4, Assasins Creed, Left 4 Dead, World At War 5 and future games

Re: Hardware Upgrade

[ Edited ]

In a laptop the video is generally a graphics chip on the laptop motherboard  or on very high-end laptops it can be a daughter card. You are stuck with what you selected as options when you purchased your HP laptop. There are a few Dell laptops, lik as the Dell Inspiron 1705. that offer a video upgrade option

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but upgrading video cards is only for desktop PCs, with rare exceptions.

That may very well change in the future, but for now that is the way consumer laptops are designed and constructed.

Re: Hardware Upgrade

I have the

Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv6894ca Notebook PC.. im changing the cpu to a intel xeon dual core 3.0ghz and adding a gig of ram since it has 3gb and is expandable to 4g

It has PCI x16 and a nvidia geforce 8400 gs 256 mb dedicated graphics card.

the motherboard is

Board: Quanta 30D2 79.29
Bus Clock: 667 megahertz

Im pretty sure it has MXM on it since its an nvidia driver and MXM came out in 2004 and this laptop is pretty new so is there any chance?

and it is not a PCI express mini :smileytongue:

Re: during BIOS updating system hang

Looks like you have a corrupt bios. Go to YouTube and search xpack90 and I just made new video explaining how to fix it. I'm on an iPod so finding it will take a while to find it but if you can't then I can pot it later on today.
