Hi all
I've got a hp pavilion dv7 4050 ed since September. (I5 processor)
From the beginning I noticed that he gets pretty hot for example now the cores are 46-52 °C when I'm not doing heavy tasks (just internet)
When I'm doing heavy tasks it gets easy to 70-80 °C
A friend of mine has a similar model and it stays cool.
it can't be dust so I need some help before I blow my processor!

Hi Barde,
Have you tried to DL the latest BIOS version? pease updat you BIOS go to www.hp.com an put in your product number in the search field and hit on software and driver downloads and then look for BIOS, download and run the insyde flash. and it should update your BIOS which controls the temparature on your KV. I have a brand new dv7 w/ the core i7, and it regularly runs between 63-74 C. It is uncomfortably warm for a "laptop." I downloaded the new bios and it changed nothing.
I had an interesting problem recently. The computer would step down the cpu to 96 mhz (!) when it hit 63 C. All the processing power of a first generation Pentium I, yay! So I searched the internet for a solution (in vain), called tech support (who of course told me to d/l the new bios) and was all ready to send it back to HP... when I checked the power management settings. I had it set to "power saver" which defaults to passive heat management. I changed it to active heat management, and now it works again (although, the temps are exactly the same -- go figure.).
This might be a problem for HP to take note of, and add to their tech support "solutions" file.

The situation hasn't changed at all since the update!
It's verry disappointing that I can't conatct HP by e-mail or chat with an technician (there is no e-mail/shat support for your product) sure if you 've got problems like this!
Are there more sugestions??
