Hello world !
I have a HP Presario CQ50 ( 112E0 ) that has been dropped to the floor and after this, it does not work any more on external power.
The PC comes fine with battery power, though, and runs fine.
I picked the PC apart and can measure 20 volts on the MB so I assume something is wrong with the requlator circuitry on the MB.
As there are no warranties left and a repair would probably cost more than buying a new laptop, I did some experiments
with feeding it with external power via the battery contact pins, but did not have any success in getting the laptop to start up.
I know there is some intelligence in the battery itself but I imagine it would be possible to fool the laptop
into thinking that it is battery powered instead of beeing fed with 12V via the battery contacts from an external power source.
Has anybody come across this problem or has knowledge of the '?s' in the battery pin configuration which seem to be
'gnd-gnd-gnd-?-?-?-12V-12V'
Cheers /fx
